Jan Oosting (Emmen, 1947) is living and working with his wife Jolanda and three daughters in Holland. In his studio ''The Bente" he daily finds his inspiration in painting and drawing. His thema is ''the landscape and his history'', support by rags of text which refer to the past and further the experience of space. Aspecially beaches and dunes with bunkers from the Second World War, scanning the west coast of Europe - including Fanø, have his attention. These huge concrete blocks, scattered among the dunes and lyme grass, are highly visible at the west coast of the peninsula Jutland. Some of them are more or less engulfed by the sea. Most of them are out of plumb, still sinking away in the travelling undergroud of loose and windborn sand.
